Spurred by the love of crafting zines and DIY music packaging as youngsters in the punk scene, Rebecca and Brian independently immersed themselves in learning the craft of commercial printing. They worked at commercial job shops, small newspapers and print studios through the 1990s, until co-founding Stumptown Printers Worker Cooperative in 1999. At its final year in 2019, it had grown to a production facility of 4500 square feet, supporting several printer-workers. Craft Printing House was founded to focus on Rebecca and Brian's love of typecasting, hot-metal type composition and letterpress printing. Started as a way to support collaborative programming at the non-profit C.C. Stern Type Foundry, Craft Printing House accepts commission work and specialty job printing as time allows.
